VICTORVILLE — The San Marcos High School girls golf team concluded its postseason campaign on Monday afternoon, earning an eighth-place team finish at the CIF-SS Division 4 Tournament held at Bear Valley Country Club in Victorville, as Noozhawk reported.

The postseason championship event brought together top high school girls golf programs from across the region to compete on the course in Victorville. The Royals navigated both a highly competitive field of teams and a challenging overall venue setup to secure their top-ten team placement in the southern section division standings.

Throughout the day of championship competition, the San Marcos squad demonstrated strong determination while adjusting to an unfamiliar course environment. San Marcos head coach Sarah Ashton expressed deep pride in how the entire team approached the tournament, emphasizing their dedicated effort from their opening tee shots all the way through their final putts on the eighteenth green. Ashton noted that she was proud of how every single member of the team stayed fully committed to doing their absolute best work, despite having to play a new course for the first time under high-stakes tournament pressure.

The physical layout and course setup at Bear Valley Country Club provided a stern test for all the student-athletes in attendance. Coach Ashton pointed out that the course featured a tricky setup that required careful shot selection and strategy, which was made even more demanding by tough pin positions placed throughout the course greens. Despite these difficult playing conditions and pin placements, the Royals maintained their composure and stayed focused on executing their individual rounds throughout the entirety of the day.

Beyond their athletic play and overall finish on the team leaderboard, the San Marcos golfers stood out for their exemplary sportsmanship and positive conduct toward fellow competitors on the course. Coach Ashton told Noozhawk that the Royals were not only good teammates to one another during the event, but were also exceptionally respectful to their opponents throughout the entire day of postseason competition.

Ashton noted that San Marcos players were frequently seen assisting opponents on the course with practical aspects of the game. Throughout the championship round, Royals golfers helped competitors maintain proper pace of play, assisted opponents with knowing and applying the rules of golf, and regularly offered words of supportive encouragement to other players in their respective playing groups.

On the individual leaderboard, Mia Rocha put together a standout performance to cap off her high school golf career. Rocha claimed sixth place individually in the tournament after posting a round score of 87. Her performance was highlighted by consistent shot-making that yielded six pars along with a birdie on hole nine, providing a memorable and strong finishing touch to her high school career representing the Royals.

Simrin Singh also delivered a highly impressive round for San Marcos, giving the Royals two individual golfers finishing near the very top of the overall tournament leaderboard. Singh put together a strong day of play on the course, recording a score of 93 to take 14th place individually in the competitive championship field.

Sierra Kaderali served as the third finisher for the Royals at the postseason event. Kaderali completed her tournament round at Bear Valley Country Club with a score of 110, contributing to the team's cumulative overall placement in the final tournament standings.

The collective team effort for San Marcos was completed by Cana Spieker, Chloe Bellamy, and Hayden Anderson, who all took to the course at Bear Valley Country Club to finish out the Royals roster. Together, the group of student-athletes ensured San Marcos was fully represented at the CIF-SS Division 4 Tournament, capping off the team's postseason competition with an eighth-place team finish in Victorville.
