As The Santa Barbara Independent reported, the City of Goleta is currently accepting applications for the upcoming session of its bilingual community academy, known as LIDERA, scheduled for January and February 2027. The six-week program provides approximately 30 to 35 participants with a close look at local government operations.
Classes are scheduled for six consecutive Thursday evenings from January 14 to February 18, running from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Most sessions will take place in the Council Chambers at Goleta City Hall, located at 130 Cremona Drive, with one or two classes held at other city facilities. Participation requires attendance at all scheduled classes.
The program is open to any resident of Santa Barbara County, though priority is given to Goleta residents, and high school and college students are strongly encouraged to apply. Space is limited for the bilingual classes. Interested individuals can visit the City of Goleta website to submit an application.
